Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s second biggest National park having 1978sqkm of size.
The park can easily be accessed from the south from Kampala via Mbarara town- Bushenyi via Katunguru covering a distance of 420km while the north through Fort portal- Kasese via Katunguru covers a total of 410km.it can be also accessed from the south from Kabale or bwindi impenetrable national park wakahihi to Ishasha gate.
Queen Elizabeth National park is some times referred to as the Pearl of Africa because of its world bio-sphere reserve with a ram – San wetland site.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is also known for the ”big four” animals i.e Buffaloes, Lions, leopards and elephants and many other animals like baboons, warthogs, monkeys, ,chimpanzee, hyenas, Uganda kobs, giant forest hog, hippo and many more.Also around 600+ bird species including 11kingfishers, vultures, flamingos and beautiful butterflies every where.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1 Drive to Queen Elizabeth

You will depart Kampala and drive towards west very early in the morning so that traffic jam does not delay the journey.You will pull off to Masaka- Mbarara road high way and a stop over at the Uganda equator will be made where you will get some coffee, ease yourself, stretch your legs, make simple shopping and take lovely photographs,a drive will continue until you reach Mbarara town a home of long horned Ankole cattle for lunch.
A journey will continue to queen Elizabeth national park as your taking a view of beautiful green vegetation along side the country road and as you keep an eye out for a short game drive along the channel track as we proceed to check in at your lodge.
Depending on the time of arrival and the energy, you may also set off for the game drive in the northern sector of the park.it is particularly rewarding with good views of the shadows of the mountain of the moon ( Rwenzori ) and the nice scenery of the baboon cliff. After wards transfer to the lodge as you spot some wildlife through large expanses of savanna grass lands.

Day 2 Game drive and Boat cruise
Very early in the morning you will set off for a game drive along kasenyi track in search for lions, Elephants, leopards, Uganda kob, Giant forest hog. And this is the best time of viewing lions in the vast population at a close range and every animal in the park afterwards transfer to the lodge and prepare for the lunch cruise at kazinga channel.
The lunch cruise gives you an opportunity to view aquatic animals at a close range i.e crocodiles, Hippos, buffaloes while they are dozing, swimming and enjoying the sunset also you will view many species of birds like kingfishers, saddle billed stock, pelicans and beautiful butterflies species and many more whereby some birds fish and swim on the shores of the channel and this will result into taking amazing shots for yourself.After this experience you will transfer back to your booked lodge.

Day 3 Return to Kampala
After breakfast drive back to Kampala keeping an eye out to the beautiful green vegetation along side the country road and a stop over will be at Igongo cultural center and here you will view different African items like crafts, paintings and drum makers etc and this will result into taking lovely photographs after wards you will proceed to Kampala or Entebbe for your flight.
