Nyungwe rain forest is believed to be one of the Africa’s oldest forests staying ever green and it is habituated with chimpanzees and other 12  primates including a- 400 strong troop of habituated  Ruwenzori black and white colobus , 300+ species of birds and is known as a paradise for birders 70+ different species of mammal.

Nyungwe offers a glimpse of activities trekking famous chimpanzees, Hiking, Experiencing the canopy walk, Biking in the beautiful terrain, witnessing beautiful different bird species, and relaxing by the water falls, exploring through the rain forest and cultural activities.

3 Day Nyungwe primate Rwanda safari itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali

You will meet our driver guide at the airport to transfer you to Nyungwe which is located in south western corner of Rwanda and the journey will be pleasant with scenic view of the country side, you will check your lodge at the arrival

Day 2 chimp trekking and other primates
Early morning after having your break fast, you will set off to trek the chimps in this forest which is the main activity of the day. You will also discover other primates with the help of experienced guides providing you with the relevant information about primates, reproduction, feeding and life style.

Viewing primates on the slopes of the mountain is quite challenging but guides will be a round you to help.
Primates you are to encounter on your trek in our 3 Day Nyungwe primate Rwanda safari Nyungwe are, Read tailed monkeys, Vervet monkeys, chimps, golden m, large troops of the Angola colobus, silver monkeys, Olive baboon, Grey – cheeked mangabeys and more.

You will also encounter d bird species on the paradise flycatcher, forest hornbill, a long – tailed  Blue, Orange and white ,a great Blue Turaco and more of bird species. After the experience you will return to your lodge for relaxation.

Day 3  Nature walk
On this day early morning have break fast and then we set off for the nature walk in Gasakula tea estate where you will be able to see more birds and butterflies and also we will take a walk a round Lake Kivu as well as relaxing enjoying the smooth winds of the lake and waterfall, the walk may take 2-4 hours including relaxing we will  conclude our 3 Day Nyungwe primate Rwanda safari by starting a journey back to Kigali so that you can catch up with your flight
