1 Day Mabira Forest Reserve safari takes you to Mabira forest Reserve located approximately 54 Kilometers from Uganda’s capital Kampala on the main Kampala- Jinja high way in the district of Buikwe. Mabira forest covers an area of about 300 square kilometers and boat riding at the source of the Nile, visiting of reptile village, swimming bird watching and other mammals, village walk.
This forest is the largest semi-deciduous forest remaining in the central region of Uganda and an important Bird area with over 300 species including the endangered Nathan’s Francolin,beautiful flowers, trees of different species.

After breakfast,  start our 1 Day Mabira forest reserve safari drive to Mabira Forest located on the main Kampala- Jinja Highway, 54 kilometers from the City of Kampala and about 26 kilometers from Jinja Town. The forest center is on the edge of Najjembe village approximately 500 meters north of the main road. A short walk or drive down this mar rum road leads you to the forest center.

You will take Jinja road offering en-route beautiful scenery featuring undulating hills covered with lush green vegetation, sugarcane and tea plantations. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and by virtue of its location, the nature walk has become very popular for weekend visitors from both Kampala and Jinja which makes it an exciting tour to Uganda’s Mabira forest reserve for a nature walk and birding.

The forest has well established trails and is also home to over 315 species of Bird like the Nathan’s Francolin, Hawk Eagle, the forest wood hoop, the purple throat-ed cuckoo, the red headed blue bill, the black bellied seed cracker, the shinning blue king fisher and many more.Some of these species can only be found in Mabira forest and nowhere else. Different species of trees and some are about 50 years+ , beautiful flowers, and on the walk you may spot some monkeys jumping in the branches of the trees as you take photos of these creatures.It is truly an awesome experience for nature lovers.

In the mid afternoon go to Rain forest lodge to relax and to have Lunch, later transfer to the source of the Nile and visit the Reptile village where you will have an opportunity to see crocodiles, snakes and many others.Afterwards you will take a village walk and see different people and their culture and after you will join a boat ride and cross the Nile you will visit a place where John S peke discovered the source of the Nile as the largest River in Africa.Here you will have a chance to take lovely shots and then after return to the starting point,the boat ride takes 2 hours so as you can fully explore the Nile River.
