Akagera National park is one of the largest  protected national parks in Rwanda which was founded in 1934 to protect wildlife and vegetation. It was given a name Akagera after a river that runs through the park.  The park is managed by the Akagera Management Company which was established in 2009 and an agreement was signed between Rwanda Development Board and Africa parks.
The park covers 12,000 sq km and found in Eastern Rwanda bordering Tanzania.

In Akagera National park there is over 500+ bird species and hence is termed as a paradise for bird lovers some of the birds found here are
Wildlife, mammals and primates are also found here which makes this park a must visit park for the visitor example of animals are  Elephants, Buffaloes, Maasai Giraffe, Buffaloes,Antelopes ,Eland, Zebras,Common Duiker,  Rhinos, Lions, Primates some of them are Vervet Monkeys, Olive Baboons, wide-eyed bush babies. Also you might come across black-masked Civet, Bush Pigs, Warthogs, black-tailed Mongoose and many more

Game Drives: Nocturnal and Day
Games drives simply help the visitor to view each and every animal both at night and during day time. you will be able to see different wildlife, like Buffaloes, Elephants, Leopard, Lions, Elands, Monkeys, Civets, Rhinos, Antelopes, Maasai Giraffe.
Both game drives will enable you to see wildlife in Akagera National park and they usually take 2-3 hours and always a guide helps you to enjoy and explore the park as he answers most of your questions at any time.

Boat safari is one of thew activity done when you visit Akagera National park and this lake has a lot of water birds , hippos, crocodile which are found on its shores and also Elephants are seen .
