2 Day best of Queen Elizabeth park is a great short city break safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park a wonderful national park, sometimes dubbed ‘the Pearl of Africa or Switzerland of Africa‘.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is described as the most beautiful park in Africa. Set in the west of the Great African rift valley, and bordered by the Rwenzori Mountains (the legendary mist-capped ‘Mountains of the Moon’).

Queen Elizabeth incorporates dozens of mirror surfaced crater-lakes, salty and fresh water lakes. There are over 95 mammal including 10 primate species (chimpanzees, blue, red-tailed, L’ Hoest monkey, Columbus, baboons), up to 20 predators ( lion, leopard, spotted hyena, etc), Antelopes, Buffaloes, Hippos and Elephants.

More than 610 + bird species ( probably the highest total for any national park in Africa, if not the world. In addition to 54 raptors, the checklist includes virtually every water bird species of Uganda, a variety of woodland and forest species

Day 1: Kampala – Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Start our 2 Day best of Queen Elizabeth park by departing from Kampala heading southwest across the country, through Mbarara town, the home to the impressive long horn Ankole cattle. On the way you will visit the  the royal drum makers,  the Equator take photographs, make simple shopping, and pull off to Queen Elizabeth National Park, keeping an eye out for game.

A short game drive along the Channel track welcomes you into this park as we continue to check-in at the lodge. The Channel track runs parallel with the Kazinga channel as you drive slowly towards the Katunguru gate. It’s particularly rewarding with warthog, bush buck, water buck and elephants.

Depending on the time limits, you may also like to enjoy a safari game drive in the northern sector of the park, the Baboon Cliff famous for its nice scenery, and good views of the shadows of the mountains of the moon – the Rwenzoris.

Afterwards you drive back to your lodge through large expanses of Savannah grasslands as you spot some wildlife.

Queen Elizabeth National Park – Game Drive – Drive to Kampala

We set off early in the morning for a game drive in the northern part of the park on the Kasenyi Track in search of lions, Elephants,  Buffaloes, Giraffes, Antelopes, Zebras, Leopards,  and many others.

This is the best time  of viewing the  these cats in action owing to the vast population of Uganda Kobs. We have an excellent chance to view just about every animal here at very close range. Return to the lodge for your breakfast, as you prepare to go  for a launch trip along the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes Edward and George.

The lunch cruise gives you the opportunity to view aquatic animals like  Crocodiles, Hippo’s huff and spray at mere feet away from the boat, Buffalo linger in the shallows of the channel. The shores are also home of different bird species pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork

This gives you the opportunity to view wildlife up close: hippo’s huff and spray at mere feet away from the boat, buffalo linger in the shallows. The shores of the channel are also home to an array of birds including pink backed pelicans, pied and malachite kingfishers, saddle billed stork and many others, these fish and relax there, this will give you an opportunity to take lovely shots at a close range.After the boat ride, we conclude our 2 Day best of Queen Elizabeth park by starting a journey back to Kampala arriving early in the evening.
